We take great care to ensure our salmon is the best that it can be. Here are some of the reasons why:
- All Sainsbury’s Scottish salmon is sourced from dedicated farms around the west coast and isles of Scotland, chosen for their ideal conditions.
- The farms use responsible management to protect and maintain the natural environment
- The salmon is fed a bespoke diet designed to both protect our natural resources from over fishing and guarantee great taste and nutritional benefit for you.
- All our Scottish salmon are reared on farms inspected by Freedom Food in accordance with strict RSPCA welfare standards for farmed salmon”
Our Responsibly Sourced Salmon is high in omega 3 fats. It’s recommended that you should eat at least 2 portions of fish a week, one of which should be oily, rich in omega-3.
Our responsibly sourced salmon fillets/steaks provide the entire 3g weekly intake in each serving. Eating 3g of long chain omega 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids each week, as part of a healthy lifestyle, helps maintain heart health.
Organic salmon
Our organic salmon is also 100% Scottish, sourced from farms around Shetland. They produce to the UK Soil Association standard for Organic Aquaculture. Our organic farms are also inspected by Freedom Food in accordance with strict RSPCA welfare standards for farmed salmon. Organic feed results in salmon which tends to be slightly lower in fat, however our organic salmon is still high in omega-3.
