candida elimination diet 27 Apr 2008

I have started a strict elimination diet. I cannot eat any foods containing yeast or wheat which includes most alcohol, mushrooms, normal bread, crackers, pastries , pasta etc.
I need a good wheat free muesli, and ideas for non alcoholic tasty drinks. even stuff you can add to water to jazz it up.
    Any ideas out there?

candida elimination diet 04 Sep 2008

Hi dont have any ideas as I am just starting on the route of finding an elimiation diet for this. Did you go to a nutritionist or did you buy a book. I have cut out wheat, alcohol, mushrooms etc not much left to eat at he moment but so far have lost 6lbs. Feeling better, was a little achy and feelling sick etc but seems to be settling down now and that includes the gas in my stomach. Could you give me an idea on how you got started and what diet you are using. Thanks

I thoroughly recommend Erica White's Anti Candida Handbook and Cookbook.. you can get these on www.nutritionhelp.com.
I was on an anti-candida diet for 3 years myself, avoiding yeast, all kinds of sugar including cheese, fruit (except tomatoes), fermented and processed foods, although I was allowed wheat and ate a lot of home made soda bread.

I followed Erica White's 4 point anti-Candida plan, which means diet eliminating sugar and yeast, taking supplements, probiotics and carefully, measured amounts of anti-fungals. I recovered from post viral fatigue and my asthma unexpectedly reduced by about two thirds. Ididn't put my children on the diet of course, but I stopped feeding them burgers, factory pies and sausages, and my daughter stopped getting tonsilitis every winter.

One thing that is still a nuisance is that most canned tomatoes contain citric acid which is a yeast - although Sainsbury's organic tomatoes are about the only ones I can find now without this additive. The Co-op used to sell Tarantella organic canned tomatoes but they seem to have stopped lately in my local store. Good luck, your friends will think you're mad, but the anti-Candida diet is not another fad.
