What is the Sainsbury's online community?
Food is always a talking point at Sainsbury's - and when it comes to trying something new, we realised everyone's got a brilliant idea or two up their sleeve. So we created this community as a place for our customers to get together and be inspired.

Do I have to join?
You don't have to be a member to explore the site - it's here for everyone! But if you'd like to reply to a post or start a discussion, you'll need to register first. This is partly so we can make sure people use the site responsibly. But it also means you can create a profile in the My Folder area and keep track of all your discussions - handy if you want to find something again quickly.

Will posting affect my privacy?
When you join, we'll ask you to create a member name or 'alias', (for example 'kitchendiva' or 'helen123') which appears alongside your post. This helps everyone keep track of discussions, and also search for previous discussions by the same people. You can also create a profile and say a bit about yourself, for example your age and interests, although this is optional. Apart from that, other details like your real name and email address stay hidden at all times. We won't display them or pass them on to anyone else. Find out more in our privacy policy.

How do I post?
Once you're in one of our online communities, it's easy to post a reply or start a discussion. Just go to a topic and click 'Start new discussion' or select 'Reply' to answer a post that interests you. Then enter your post in the box provided. Please read your post through carefully (and use the edit screen if you want to change it) - once you've posted it, you can't change it!

Will Sainsbury's post too?
We know you like hearing about new products and food ideas from Sainsbury's so we may chip in occasionally with something we think you'll like. In addition we have created a new section called 'Discuss with Sainsbury's' within which members of the Sainsbury’s marketing and Careline team will be responding to your posts from time to time. But apart from that, it's over to you!

Why have a member profile?
Creating a profile is a great way to connect with like-minded people, while still maintaining your privacy online. Simply tell us a bit about what you're like and what you're interested in. You can also add a picture and signature to personalise your posts. Once you've joined, you can also browse other members' profiles and see who's online. For information about staying safe online, see our house rules.

How do I update my details?
It's easy to change your member details, your password or your profile. Simply log in and go to 'My folder' , select the 'My profile' tab and update your details.

Can I change my member name?
Your member name is the only part of your profile that you can't change. This is partly to make sure people are following the house rules - but also because it would be hard to keep discussions going if the names changed all the time! So please choose your member name carefully as it will appear next to all your posts from then on.

What if someone posts something offensive?
The Sainsbury's community is a place where people come to share ideas in a safe, welcoming atmosphere. That's what our house rules are all about. As an extra measure, we also use automatic screening and have a dedicated monitoring team to check for anything inappropriate. If someone posts something they shouldn't, we should get to it before you do. But if you come across anything that's not quite right, just click 'Report this post' and let us know. Polite, respectful behaviour is one of our terms and conditions, so we can take people's membership away if they're creating a nuisance. For more details on our policy, please see our house rules and terms & conditions.

What is RSS?
If you'd like to stay in touch with new developments on the site, try RSS. It's a way of sending the information you need out to your desktop, so you'll know when there's something new to come and check out. For more information, see our RSS guide.

Where can I find out about Sainsbury's products and services?
For more about Sainsbury's products and services, please visit our homepage on www.sainsburys.co.uk. While some of our colleagues may join in discussions from time to time to help with your queries, the unofficial, informal nature of the online community means we cannot guarantee all the information here is correct and up to date or that it reflects our policies or business. Can I be involved in the online community if I work at Sainsbury's?
Yes but please remember we created this community as a place for users to get together and be inspired about food and other related topics. This means it shouldn’t be used to discuss Sainsburys business or working practises. If you are unclear about what to post please read our house rules.
