The Perfect Steak


A perfectly cooked steak is a wonderful thing. It’s also something you can do in your own kitchen really easily. Here’s our simple guide to getting it right:

Remove your steak from the fridge, remove from the packaging and pop it on to a board to allow it to reach room temperature.

Step Two

It’s important for a great steak to season and oil the meat and not the pan. Put your griddle or frying pan on the hob on a high heat and rub the steak with oil and then season with sea salt and black pepper.

Your pan needs to be really hot for the outside of the steak to caramelise so once it has reached temperature add your steak

SIRLOIN &

RARE


Cook  for 2 minutes on each side

MEDIUM


Cook  for 3 minutes on each side

RARE


Once sealed, 3 1/2 minutes in a preheated oven

MEDIUM


Cook  for 3 minutes on each side

WELL DONE


Cook  for 4 1/2 minutes on each side

MEDIUM


Once sealed, 10 minutes in a preheated oven

WELL DONE


Cook  for 4 ½ minutes on each side

WELL DONE


Once sealed, 14 minutes in a preheated oven

TOP TIP


Turn every minute for an even cook

A medium cook for a ribeye allows the fat to melt

TOP TIP


Seal steak in a hot pan for 2 minutes
(180/Gas mark 4)


To make sure you get a deliciously tender steak, it’s really important to allow the meat to rest and relax post-cooking. Simply remove from the pan, cover in foil to retain the heat and leave for approximately 5-10 minutes.
