Villa al Cortile is the Piccini family estate in Montalcino dedicated to the one grape varietal that uniquely indentifies the most elevated oenological expression of this territory: Sangiovese. Block harvesting, small lot vinification, severe barrel selection and intelligent blend of tradition and modern winemaking methods are at the heart of Villa al Cortile wines defined by intensity and concentration while maintaining a vertical elegance.

History: Piccini's story began in 1882 with Angiolo Piccini, who owned only 7 ha of vineyards in the Chianti area. Even today, Piccini is still 100% family owned by Mario and Martina Piccini who mark the 4th generation of the family. Piccini is situated in Castellina in Chianti and it is one of the biggest player in Tuscany.
Regional information: Brunello di Montalcino is Tuscany's most famous DOCG (along with Chianti) and the region's boldest expression of Sangiovese. Brunello di Montalcino is located 30 miles south of Siena with the hilltop town of Montalcino as its epicentre. Its 2,000ha of vines are naturally delimited by the Orcia, Asso and Ombrone valleys. Brunello is the local name for the Sangiovese Grosso clone from which Brunello di Montalcino should be made in purezza (100%).
Vinification: Grapes are carefully selected to ensure only the best quality fruit is used to produce this Brunello di Montalcino. The wine spends a minimum of 24 months in oak barrels and 6 months in bottle.
