History: Bosman Family Vineyards is a pioneering South African estate where excellence in wine is inseparable from social and environmental integrity. From extending ownership through a workers' trust to spearheading social development projects in their farm communities, they've redefined what a wine business can be. Their model is built on care, control, and commitment—from regenerative farming and community upliftment to meticulous winemaking.
Regional information: Our Merlot sites range from plantings as early as 2001 to as recent as 2013 planted in schist soils near Hermon, which gives structure to the wine; and vineyards planted in granite soils in the Bovlei which create the appealing fruit and minerality.
Vinification: Grapes are hand-harvested and de-stemmed before fermentation. Regular pump-overs ensure good colour extraction and gentle pressing, which results in a tannin expression that is fine and subtle. A portion of the wine is matured in French oak for 6 months to create a complex wine with supple tannins.
