Bought in store, wish I could've seen the reviews!This is by far the worst name brand cake I have ever eaten. It was bought for a friend's birthday in-store & if I could have seen the reviews before buying, I would have avoided this one. The cake is so dry ! There is no frosting or cream, it is as dry as a Cadbury flake !
I'm not a regular shopper in Sainsbury's & it's purchases like this one that will keep that going.
I learned a valuable lesson this time, don't trust name brands & price to equal quality.

LacklustreThis cake was passable but not great. The sponge was pretty dry, definitely not decadent like the box description suggests. The bits of flake and chocolate curls on top were tasty, though there were far fewer than the image on the Sainsbury's website. Definitely did not serve 14 in our house, more like 8 max!

Too dry & lacks flavourI love flakes generally, especially in ice creams, they are a nice tasting chocolate, however in comparison this cake is not. It was dry and lacked flavour. The top was nicely decorated with flakes and shavings, and I preferred the flakes on top rather then the cake itself. My children who are in their 20s love this cake though. Maybe I am more particular about having a richer tasting moist chocolate cake then they are.

Really disappointedReally disappointing cake, especially for the price. It was dry and broke into pieces when cutting it. As it's sold as a celebration cake I also assumed it could come on a cake board but it didn't and had to be put onto a plate to hold, whilst moving it to the plate lots of chocolate from the sides. It was also pretty tasteless apart from the flake pieces on the top. I bought this for a birthday cake for a Cadbury lover and wish I hadn't.
