History: Viña Maipo was founded in 1948 in the Maipo Valley, a world-renowned region for producing wines of outstanding quality. Since its inception in 1583, the people of the town of Maipo have shown deep religiosity, focusing their social life around the town's church. Every year on the 8th of December the villagers have a celebration to honour the Virgin Mary, praying to her for their land and future harvests.

Regional information: Viña Maipo has expanded its activity to the main wine valleys within the Central Valley Region of Chile. Grapes are sourced from the White House Valley, Maipo Valley, Rappel Valley and the Maule Valley. The Central Valley Region has a temperate Mediterranean climate with a dry and luminous ripening season, diverse soils and precise humidity and temperature patterns.

Vinification: Fermented in stainless steel tanks followed by maturation in stainless steel tanks.

My favourite wine at homeThis has been the only wine I buy to drink at home for a number of years. It is a really good Chilean Sauvignon and is quite addictive, so it is great that it is very reasonably priced. It hits all the right notes for me and most of the people I entertain love it too, but it may be slightly chemically for anyone with a more refined palette.

Go to Chilean Sauvignon BlancThis has been my staple go to wine of choice for a number of years. It may not be for connoisseurs but even after recent price rises, it still hits all the right notes and is reasonably good value.
It goes well with anything from salads and pasta, to fish dishes, and chocolate, or savoury snacks.

PackagingAll well, only a slight adjustment to my order,reduced by just 2 bottles. However, why not keep the bottles in their original 6 bottle case much easier to unpack and store at this end.
