The village of Châteauneuf du Pape in the southern Rhône valley is named after the new château built by the Popes as a summer residence in the 14th century. Its vineyards, first planted in Roman times, and covered with rolled pebbles, are renowned for their rich, ripe, generous wines. Les Courlandes is made from Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault grape varieties. Packed with flavours of blackcurrant, licquorice, and provencal herbs, it has fine tannins and a velvety finish.

Regional information: Located in the Southern Rhône Valley, in the north of Avignon - the vineyard covers the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and 4 neighbouring villages. Soils are made of large siliceous pebble terraces with sandy red clay.
Vinification: Traditional vinification - long maceration with cap punching and pumping over - temperature control. Aged in concrete vats.
