History: Nested in the iconic village of Vergisson in the heart of the rocky Mâconnais region, Thierry Drouin has been making wines since 1981 and the “Orée des Charmes” range has been created and designed to prove that high quality Burgundy chardonnays can still be accessible and affordable.
Regional information: Thierry Drouin estate is established since 1981 in the commune of Vergisson in the Mâconnais. Anchored in the heart of the great site of Solutré-Pouilly-Vergisson, the estate is located in an old lagoon backed by the Morvan, the rocks come from fossilized coral massifs that appeared around 160 million years ago.
Vinification: Harvested by hand, the grapes are transferred by gravity into a pneumatic press where the purest juice is gently extracted from the berries. After being decanted this juice is transferred into 600L French oak demi-muids for the fermentation and a one-year ageing on the finest lees. Depending on the vintage, malolactic fermentation and lees stirring can be part of the process.
