This wine has all hallmarks of a classic Chablis: crisp, fresh citrus notes, ripe, peachy hints, a mineral purity and a richness from the months spent ageing on its yeast lees. J.Moreau & Fils is one of the oldest producers in Chablis and was founded in 1814.

This wine is made from grapes picked from old vines, whose roots extend deep into the limestone-rich Kimmeridgian soil, so imparting the classic mineral purity for which Chablis is so famed.

Delicious with rich seafood dishes like seared scallops or fish with butter sauce.

Too sharp for a chablisThis was a substitute which I could not drink. Chablis is usually a nice smooth sip, but this was sharp gave me indigestion within a few sips. Was a substitute I didn't notice until until went to open.

AstringentThis may be the product of lid vines, but it is clearly time to dig them up and plant some new ones. This has no soft notes and the dry character is simply astringent on the palate-one to avoid!

A little too acidic for meThe balance of sharpness to taste is just off. The wine wanders into acidic territory quite quickly. There are interesting flavours and traces of fruit and warmth but in the end the bitter mouthfeel spoils the experience.

Light Quaffable ChablisReceived substitute Chablis Taste the difference, in my shopping order. We drank it this evening- lovely round creamy notes that I would expect from a Chablis, but others thought it was quite light for a Chablis- more like a “Petit Chablis” than a full blown one. Very quaffable all the same ! Finished with a little oakiness - just right for my pallete

Classic crisp ChablisI saved this wine for dinner with friends and it didn't disappoint. This is a classic crips Chablis with a fresh citrus note. It felt elegant and expensive. I served it nicely chilled to accompany a salmon pasta main course and everyone enjoyed it. I will buy it again.
