STOUT

TASTING NOTES

Chocolate, roasted, dry

Stouts and porters are dark and rich. Both come in a variety of forms, from sweeter versions with oats or chocolate to Imperial stouts the strongest variants. Stouts and porters flavour’s and aroma’s can be intense roasted malts, liquorice, coffee and chocolate to dark fruit and bitterness. They offer smoothness and are often warming and drying.

FOOD PAIRINGS

Grilled meat, sausages, rich chocolate, cake, stews and oysters

Stouts and porters commonly are dark, full flavoured, full bodied beers so match the big flavour intensity of a stout with a similarly flavoured food. Shepherds pie, unctuous stews, grilled meat and sausages are all perfectly complemented by the roasted notes of a stout. The chocolate and coffee notes in these beers mean they're superb with chocolate based desserts.
