Cooking instructions: Oven
Oven cook from chilled. If freezing at home, defrost thoroughly before cooking. Before cooking 1. Remove joint from the packaging and allow to breathe at room temp for up to 30 minutes. 2. Preheat the oven to 190°C/Fan 170°C/Gas 5. 3. Brush the joint with 5ml of oil and season with salt and pepper. During cooking 1. Sear all sides of the joint in a hot pan for 6 minutes. 2. Place the joint in a roasting dish with 400g of chopped root vegetables, add 450ml by Sainsbury's beef stock, thyme and bay Leaf. 3. Bring to a simmer and cover with foil. 4. Place the roasting dish in to the pre heated oven and cook for 20 minutes. 5. Reduce the heat to 160°C/Fan 140°C/Gas Mark 3 and cook for a further 2 hours turning the joint occasionally. Roast Electric 160°C/Fan 140°C/Gas Mark 3. Well Done 2 hours. After cooking 1. Remove from oven, cover joint in foil and leave to rest for 15 minutes. 2. Remove the joint from the stock and serve. 3. Check food is piping hot. All cooking appliances vary. This is a guide only.
